The mouse MUC5B Elisa kit is suitable for the quantitative measurement of mouse MUC5B in serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, or tissue homogenates. This assay employs the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique and enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction. The color develops positively to the amount of MUC5B in samples. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. This kit displays many advantages, including high sensitivity, strong specificity, good linearity, high precision and recovery, as well as lot-to-lot consistency.
MUC5B is the major gel-forming mucin in the lung that is secreted from proximal submucosal glands and distal airway secretory cells. It plays a key role in mucociliary clearance (MCC) and host defense. MUC5B has a critical protective function in the normal lung, salivary glands, esophagus, and gallbladder, and has been reported to be abnormally expressed in breast cancer. Previous studies have shown that MUC5B is important for tumor progression. Dysregulation of MUC5B expression has also been reported in airway diseases.
