The mouse gelsolin (GSN) ELISA Kit is engineered for accurate measurement of mouse gelsolin levels from samples including serum, plasma, cell culture supernates, or tissue homogenates. It uses the Sandwich-ELISA mechanism in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to measure the mouse gelsolin content in the sample. The color intensity is positively correlated with gelsolin content in the sample. This kit has been validated against standards of sensitivity, specificity, precision, linearity, recovery, and lot-to-lot consistency.
GSN has involved in cell motility and cell shape as well as apoptosis and phagocytosis processes. It is an obligate downstream effector of Rac for motility in dermal fibroblasts, regulates phosphoinositide signaling pathways and ion channel function in vivo, and acts as both a regulator and effector of apoptosis. GSN acting as an actin filament capping/severing protein takes part in the transduction of signals into dynamic rearrangements of the cytoskeletal architecture. Abnormal expression of GSN has been found in various types of cancer and oncogenic transformations, in rheumatoid arthritis, in idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and in ARDSacute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS).
