收藏CUSABIO's human CA125 ELISA kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of human CA125 in serum and plasma. This assay uses the sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique in combination with the enzyme-substrate chromogenic reaction to quantify the analyte in the sample. The color develops positively to the amount of CA125 in samples. The color intensity is measured at 450 nm via a microplate reader.
CA125 has been used extensively to screen for neoplasms, especially in ovarian cancer. The serum CA125 level can be used as a better prognosis evaluation and it may dynamic monitoring the disease progression. In addition to acting as a specific biomarker for ovarian cancer, CA125 can also be detected in sera of patients with other types of cancers including gastric, colorectal, and pancreatic adenocarcinomas. In the normal biological setting, CA125 mainly contributes to the dense barrier of the ocular surface and prevents the binding of pathogens and debris. In the uterine epithelium, loss of expression of CA125 from the uterodome is required to promote binding of the blastocyst to the uterine epithelium to enable implantation, thus playing a key role during reproduction.
