GLP-1R (Glucagon-Like Peptide-1 Receptor) is a type of G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that plays a crucial role in metabolic regulation, and its specific ligand is glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1). The binding of GLP-1 to GLP-1R induces a conformational change in the receptor, subsequently triggering downstream signaling cascades. These cascades further activate adenylyl cyclase, ultimately leading to an increase in intracellular cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) levels. Studies have demonstrated that GLP-1R can regulate insulin secretion in response to GLP-1 through the aforementioned pathway (By similarity), which is of great significance for maintaining systemic glucose homeostasis.
